Home on the farm<\/h3>\n

Located across responsibly managed farmland set amongst several nature reserves in North-eastern Germany, you\u2019ll find the home of our little Jersey cows and our ice cream factory: The Organic Jersey Farm. We pride ourselves on setting the example of farming for future generations, supporting biodiversity and conserving the natural world. We are committed to regenerative farming according to the 4Returns framework.<\/p>\n

The cycle of life<\/h3>\n

From the cows that produce our creamy milk to our local ice cream factory; they\u2019re all part of a sustainable cycle. No pesticides, no unnatural additives, no unnatural fertilizer and no over-farmed fields means the land is left to take care of itself \u2013 to regenerate naturally. There\u2019s ample room so we farm our own feed crops and use the cows\u2019 manure to fertilise the land, completing the cycle. Our cows are treated with respect for animal welfare and our farms and factory are a key responsible employer in the local area. 4Returns<\/h5>\n

We abide by the 4Returns framework to farming the land. This means we treat the land with the respect it deserves, preserving it for generations to come and approaching everything from the soil itself to the animals that graze the land and the people who enjoy our products with sustainability in mind. We follow a clear path to 0 impact, focussing on generating 4 Returns: Social Capital, Natural Capital, Financial Capital and finally: bringing Inspiration and a sense of purpose to the people. When in balance, this creates an economically viable strategy for farming that continues to regenerate the land while delivering on all 4 Returns.<\/p>\n

Biodiversity<\/h5>\n

By looking at the bigger picture and not just one aspect of the land our cows graze on, we support a rich, biodiverse landscape. Full of life and a huge range of animals and plants. Our cows (and their milk) benefit because they graze on grass and wild herbs. But the whole ecosystem benefits because it becomes more resilient as a whole. And beautiful for anyone lucky enough to be a part of it!<\/p>\n

Organic farming<\/h5>\n

Rather than turn to artificial additives or feed to keep our little Jersey Cows healthy, we use only natural ingredients and avoid pesticides and antibiotics. Therefore, the creamy milk that makes our ice cream is truly organic. If the land and your herd are healthy, everyone stays healthy.<\/p>\n

Animal welfare<\/h5>\n

Our little cows might be little, but they still need lots of space to stay fit. So we\u2019ve made our stables as roomy as possible with groups in big spaces, kept on fresh straw. Furthermore, our cows have at least 1 acre of land per cow to roam freely outside. They are a robust, original Jersey breed kept healthy to the point of being almost disease-free. The calves are truly pampered and invariably grow up to be energetic bovine beauties. Like their mothers, the calves spend a lot of time outside in the fields.<\/p>\n

Local production <\/h5>\n

Our milk is delivered fresh from our own cows, straight to our own factory nearby.
\r\nEverything we do is aimed to be as local as possible, further reducing impact on the environment and generating job opportunities for the surrounding communities.<\/p>\n
